A George IV period mahogany 18-drawer pedestal partners desk by Miles & Edwards, London C1825.

Fabulous quality and condition, the 18 cock-beaded drawers all being beautifully made from quarter sawn oak with exquisite dovetails and original wooden threaded knobs and brass locks with keys. Recent quality black hide blind and embossed in gilt.

Dealers note: This is without doubt, among the best quality desk I've ever had the pleasure of owning. The craftsmanship is absolutely top flight. Miles & Edwards were renowned makers based in Oxford Street and won commissions from some very important clientele. Amongst them:  was the Turkish Ambassador, who was introduced to them by Lord Palmerston, the British Ambassador in Paris and the Emperor of Russia. They supplied many of Britain's stately homes including Audley End, Essex; Burton Constable, Yorkshire; Hampton Court, Leominster; Hopetoun House, Lothian; Panshanger, Hertfordshire; Stafford House, London; Wynyard Park, Co.Durham and Broughton Hall, Yorkshire, to name but a few.
